"Our nation’s dysfunctional health care system negatively affects all of us, everywhere, all of the time. Our School of Public Health created the Summit to provide a meaningful forum to understand the root causes of that dysfunction, and more importantly, to advance beneficial strategies and tactics intended to maximize health and longevity for all segments of our society."

David T. Dyjack, Dr.PH, CIH
Dean, Loma Linda University School of Public Health

Who we are

A non-partisan grass roots action event committed to making our health system better.

What we do

Educate the public on health care issues, garner consensus, identify solutions to the systemic problems underlying the lack of affordable healthcare.

How we do it

By bringing diverse thoughts to the table and clarifying our values influencing our decision making process.

We have a venue and forum for civil dialogue to help identify innovative solutions and find common ground to the challenges our current health system is facing.

Who should attend

Policy makers, foundations, legislators, community based organizations, faith-based organizations, educators, health care professionals, public health professionals, businesses, health care administrators, and community members concerned about health care.

Mission

Create a climate for responsible health care reform and promote collective action at the local state and national levels.

Purpose

The Summit is designed to strengthen the public will for health system change by educating the public on health care issues, engaging the public in constructive dialogue, and presenting comprehensive solutions to address the systemic problems that underlie the lack of affordable health care.

Objectives

  • Help communities, through reflection and dialogue, find their vision for health care reform
  • Provide forums that explore the short and long-term policy implications of this vision
  • Empower communities to give voice by taking action
  • Facilitate connections among various communities for collective work

Core Values

Accessible, affordable, equitable

The Summit works toward a healthcare system that will guarantee people equal access to affordable quality health care and as a result an equal opportunity to obtain good health.

Multidisciplinary and collaborative.

The Summit encourages and empowers individuals from different disciplines to collaborate and productively achieve a common goal whereby short and long-term solutions can be identified and implemented.

Vision and Voices

To identify a common vision from all stakeholders about health care and create an environment to ensure that this common vision can be articulated.

Consensus building and team work

The Summit promotes and creates a synergistic environment for diverse groups of people to come together to discuss, negotiate, compromise and take action on health care at the local, state and national level.

Systemic

The Summit recognizes that the health of one affects us all and, therefore, focuses on systemic changes that address the underlying causes of the current inaccessible, unaffordable, inequitable state of health care.
